Frequently Asked Questions about NCR Books
How do NCR books work?
Each page in an NCR book consists of multiple sheets with a coated back (CB), an uncoated front and coated back (CFB), and a fully coated front and back (CF). When pressure is applied while writing on the top sheet, the pressure causes the micro-encapsulated dye on the CB sheet to react with the clay on the CFB sheet, creating a duplicate on the sheet below.
Can I customise my NCR books?
Yes. We can fully customise NCR books to meet specific needs. Common customizations include the number of copies per set (e.g., 2-part, 3-part, 4-part), size and orientation of the book, sequential numbering, page colour options, and the addition of company logos and contact details. Custom perforations and specific binding options such as spiral, booklet, or padded forms are also available.
How is the NCR printing process different from regular printing?
The NCR printing process specifically involves selecting the right paper (coated and uncoated) and adjusting the printing machinery to handle multi-part forms. The actual printing can be done using offset or digital printers. If customization is required, such as adding logos or specific designs, this is done before the NCR paper is assembled into books. Unlike regular printing, careful consideration must be given to the paper alignment and the impact of pressure from writing on the top sheet.
