Site Survey
Whether you’re installing new signage, or replacing old, a site survey is an important part of every installation.
During a site survey our experts will inspect the space, understand the physical environment and discuss your signage goals and expectations.
What happens during a site survey?
Site measure
We use digital technology and good old fashioned tape measures to measure every surface to make sure the signage manufactured fits, first time. If council applications are required, we can also do more comprehensive measurements to support your planning application drawings.
Photos
To allow us to recommend the best signage, we take plenty of before photos of the space, from different angles. We will use this when briefing our install crew and they can also be useful in providing visual mocks up so you can see how the final signage will look.
Surfaces and materials
Understanding the existing surface materials and what the signage will be fixed to is important so that we can recommend the best signage substrates. For example, some wall materials are not suitable for installing a heavy sign, so an alternative like a vinyl graphic can be proposed. We will also inspect surface quality in case this could impact the signage recommended or require a clean or paint first.
Colours
We take the time to look at the colour palette of the space, along with the lighting so we can best recommend the signage colours to match your brand style guide.
Equipment
Some projects require specialised equipment, and licensed operators. We are not cowboys and we always put safety first in all our jobs. Understanding the site will allow us to allow the right equipment for the job.
Digging
We will access if signage is to be installed into the ground, so that we can plan for our install crew to complete a “Dial-before-you-dig” before installation takes place.
Permits
Unfortunately signage is not as simple as “put it up”. Many local governments require building or planning approvals to be submitted before signage can be installed. This is something we can discuss at the time to support your applications.
